We took the Kids Talk Radio
team to Japan to cover Cynthia Barboza playing on the all-Japanese team the
Toray Arrows.Japanese
professional volleyball teams are only allowed to carry one foreign player on
each team.Cynthia Barboza played
for four years on the Stanford University Women’s Volleyball Team, graduated
from Stanford and was eligible to turn pro.Kids Talk Radio wanted to cover an American living in Japan.
We bought a Japan Rail Pass
and learned how to navigate the trains, buses, and subways. This gave us access to the three key
cities we wanted to visit.We
visited Otsu, Tokyo, and Hiroshima. These cities were fantastic.Tokyo is a must see for everyone who can make the trip.
You can find most of our
videos of Japan on You Tube. Our
photo libraries are posted on our special Kids Talk Radio Apple iTunes
site.This was a wonderful
assignment for a small team of Kids Talk Radio Backpack Journalist. We did our best to recruit more
backpack journalist from Japan.
Some of the personal
highlights of our trip were to travel on the bus with the Toray Arrows Women’s
Professional Volleyball Team.Meet
ex-President Yuzo Nakagawa, PH.D. of the Kansai Stanford Club. This meeting was totally by chance on
the train.
We ate some great Japanese
food, learned some Japanese, partied with the Toray Arrows Team, and listened
to a great speaker talking about the bombing of Hiroshima. Our photos will tell the rest of the
story.
From a news perspective we
are following a great story on “Monster Parents”.We were tipped off by a story in the Japan Times. This newspaper is great. It comes out each morning in Japanese
and in English. We will have more
on this great news story.Keep
checking with www.KidsTalkRadioLA.com.
